One of the primary goals of Healthy Families Nampa is to improve the well-being of children by 1.) helping couples prepare for, form and sustain healthy marital relationships, 2.) encouraging fathers to be responsible, and 3.) helping unwed fathers and mothers become more effective parents. In cooperation with many community partners, is utilizing the following programs to accomplish that goal: |

| Pre-marital and Marriage Counseling/Education Trainings |
| Providing thorough pre-marital instruction for all couples wanting to be married in Nampa is a cornerstone of Healthy Families Nampa. Couples referred to our program may opt for faith-based or secular instruction. HFN provides training for its service providers utilizing the Prepare/Enrich curricula and methodology, which recognizes that it is more important to prepare for the marriage than merely to plan and do the wedding. |

| Family Wellness |
| Provides life-long skills to strengthen, support and empower families. In six, two-hour sessions, the “Survival Skills for Healthy Families” series provides families with tools to resolve conflict, skills to solve problems, and steps for effective discipline, among many other topics. Taught by local volunteers trained as Family Wellness instructors, the classes are provided through the faith community and other community organizations. |

| Fathers in Business |
In cooperation with the National Fatherhood Initiative, HFN is developing a pilot program to provide direct services to local businesses that will help them be more productive by becoming more family- and father-friendly. Information and training will be provided directly to employees to help parents be more effective and fathers more responsible.
An in-hospital program for unwed couples having a child out-of-wedlock. Using the video, “The Power of Two,” the process of paternity acknowledgement and its benefits to the child is explained to the new parents. After giving them opportunity to sign a paternity acknowledgement form, the parents are offered Healthy Families Network parenting and marriage education opportunities to enhance their parenting and relationship skills and promote the well-being of their child. |
